Hub Alliance Responds to European Challenge and Continues to Expand

22nd-January-2009

The increasing challenge within the European Community to facilitate the widespread adoption of eInvoicing has underlined the important role played by the Hub Alliance.

Following the successful EXPP Summit held in Frankfurt in September/October 2008 (see http://www.expp-summit.com) it was clear that cooperation between eTrading Operators was an essential component in achieving wider adoption, especially for cross border trade. The Hub Alliance was able to provide an overview of its activities and operations and the approach received widespread support. This also demonstrated that the service operators were grasping the nettle of open integration. This model is similar to that used within the mobile telecoms marketplace to allow roaming between the different national and international operators.

Over recent months the membership of the Hub Alliance has grown significantly. Crossinx, Comwall and Itella have joined the Hub Alliance, bringing the total to nine companies. Others are also looking to join.

To underline the central role now being played by the Hub Alliance it has also been invited to join the EC Expert Group that is to recommend a new interoperability framework. This is a significant step and one that will allow us to bring considerable expertise and user experience to the debate.
